No Smoking Ban on July 1st
For all of England the Health Act 2006 (pdf here) will finally be enacted in force by banning smoking in public enclosed places. This is quite a step for the UK to take, even though the ban will be enacted earlier in Wales (and is already in force in Scotland).
From a sign-maker’s standpoint, we are ready to start large scale manufacture of our No Smoking sign lines, and encourage businesses to get ordering now before the rush in the run-up to July 1st 2007.
By Patricia Hewitt‘s calculation that could mean 200,000 pubs, bars, and restaurants. That doesn’t even include factories, shops, public transport, and so on – so we imagine that many businesses are suddenly going to need No Smoking signs by July 1st 2007.
