Wayfinding Sign 42

Well there is no better name for a wayfinding sign than the one that you see here – Willerby Hill Site Plan. It’s straightforward about its purpose.

The design of the map is very clear and concise, with the NHS Trust’s buildings in blue, the prohibition of parking on the main road in red (as are all prohibition signs or notices) and then also on the bottom of the sign there is a small section for directional wayfinding to direct people to specific locations.

The sign itself is constructed using 11g aluminium and the sign face is created using wide format printing.

Road Sign 18

A great pic of a newly installed traffic road sign, looking very authoritative and direct.

One thing to note about this sign, as with all road signs, is that it has a reflective coating on it so vehicles approaching it at night with their lights on can see it very clearly.

This sign is constructed using heavy duty aluminium for both the sign itself and for the pole.

Aluminium Sign 33

As is clearly obvious from the photograph, this is a large sign. Constructed using aluminium composite, this has an impact immediately upon seeing it. In clear large lettering, the corporate logo and name is achieved using vivid and vibrant vinyl.

Overall the length of the sign fits the building but doesn’t overcrowd or overpower it, the same can be said of the lettering too, designed to fit the sign, to fit the size of the building but no more.

Wayfinding Sign 41

There are many wayfinding signs that give directions, arrows and names that point to a rough area of where to go, but there are also wayfinding signs like this one which is very detailed. It isn’t difficult to follow, and clearly printed it can be ready easily by almost anyone.

The face is created using wide format printing which is then applied to an aluminium composite backboard. Given a further durable vinyl covering it will last several years outside at the University of Huddersfield.

Created from modular sections of aluminium, this clear and straightforward example of a wayfinding sign is easy to follow and understand.

Fixed to the spot using concrete it is permanently in position.

Notice in the top left there is a University of Lincoln logo making this a corporate sign.

Safety Sign 11

As can be seen from the variety of information found on this safety sign, this is a sign that achieves several goals.

Firstly is the clear notice of where you are, Ward 12, with the mandatory (blue) notice directing visitors to nursing staff to sign in.

Secondly is the dual notices underneath, a warning (yellow) and a prohibition (red). All are clear to see, and there can be no ambiguity, as there are symbols too.

The sign is created using wide format printed vinyl on an aluminium composite sheet which is then fixed firmly to the wall with tamper-proof screws.

Profile Sign 35

Here is a great way to use profile signs, as a backdrop of a foyer or welcome desk. When people enter the building they will see this immediately.

The profile elements of the sign are created by cutting the letters out of aluminium composite sheets. These are arranged in situ and fixed solidly to the wall by one of several methods, any of which will keep the letters in place for a long time.

Although this one is relatively small, profile signs can be quite large and run up the side of buildings.

Health Sign

With the majority of NHS signs having a similar appearance, part of the corporate image, this is one that has some variation and adaptation to it.

Clearly you can see the corporate image, but instead of a flat aluminium composite sheet fixed to a wall, this is one that has been formed into a tray. With the wide format printed vinyl applied to the face, it then has some modular components added to let people change the name and/or add names.

Health Sign

By law the health signs that are in the UK, at least as far as the NHS goes, have one uniform colour and design. There is a little leeway on wording and sizes but there are rules on how signage must be designed.

Here you can see an NHS sign that is also a wayfinding sign.

Given that it is an NHS sign as mentioned, this is also a corporate sign because of the NHS logo.

Bespoke Sign 54

An effective and fitting bespoke sign, this uses several signage disciplines as well as some other trades. The octagonal wooden pole is specifically created for this job, and the whole look is definately bespoke.

The front face of this sign is wide format printed vinyl that has been adhered to an aluminium composite sheet, and then fixed to a wooden backing.

Although we like to say most of our work is bespoke and unique, which it is, this sign also highlights the fact that we can travel all over the country as this church in Battle is right on the southern East Sussex coast.
