When we are looking for photographs to display on the site, we try to find signage that displays the more well-known aspects of each signage category; for example wayfinding signage that shows different locations and how to get there.

But there is also this kind of wayfinding signage, signs that display the location at the end of the arrows. This is one such sign, showing the room number and name, and in this particular case the university corporate logo.

Vinyl Sign 61

Some wide format printed vinyl signs that we create are not as simple as others, and some like this one are full of useful information, so they have to be created and crafted carefully. In this case the customer provided the artwork.

Although you can’t see this, this is a wide format printed vinyl sign that is printed onto a vinyl substrate that is bonded to an aluminium blank.

You might also notice the multitude of corporate symbols along the bottom of the sign, these have to be large enough to be seen when reading the sign, but also not too large as to be in the way.

Bespoke Sign 52

This style of aluminium sign is becoming very popular, probably because it is iconic and draws a lot of attention. With the right design on it it can be part of the architecture rather than pointing people towards it.

The photograph itself is very good, showing the sign is full sunshine next to the building (on the right). Clearly you can see the name of the place, the Carnegie Pavilion, and the corporate logo at the very top, the Leeds Metropolitan University logo.

Another feature to point out is one of the main features of this monolith – the wayfinding map right in the middle. Someone wanting to know where they are in relation to other buildings would have no problem finding that out using this rather amazing bespoke sign.

Wayfinding Sign 40

Created from modular sections of aluminium, this clear and straightforward example of a wayfinding sign is easy to follow and understand.

Fixed to the spot using concrete it is permanently in position.

Notice in the top left there is a University of Lincoln logo making this a corporate sign.

Health Sign

With the majority of NHS signs having a similar appearance, part of the corporate image, this is one that has some variation and adaptation to it.

Clearly you can see the corporate image, but instead of a flat aluminium composite sheet fixed to a wall, this is one that has been formed into a tray. With the wide format printed vinyl applied to the face, it then has some modular components added to let people change the name and/or add names.

Health Sign

By law the health signs that are in the UK, at least as far as the NHS goes, have one uniform colour and design. There is a little leeway on wording and sizes but there are rules on how signage must be designed.

Here you can see an NHS sign that is also a wayfinding sign.

Given that it is an NHS sign as mentioned, this is also a corporate sign because of the NHS logo.

Primary School Sign 19

Primary school signs need to be very clear and distinctive.

The sign itself is constructed using aluminium, fitted securely to posts and concreted into place. The face is created with wide format printed vinyl.

You can see in the bottom left corner a corporate logo.

Banner Sign 6

Banners are very effective signs and one of their greatest strenghts is that they are not permanently fixed. You can move them around to suit the needs of the message/business.

Another great asset that banners have over the average sign is that they can be re-lettered more easily.

As you can see in this image, there is a strong corporate presence with the logos and names.

Primary School Sign 18

As you can clearly see this primary school sign has a very bespoke shape. In the bottom left and bottom right corners of the main sign you can see corporate logos.

This sign is created using large aluminium sheets, cut into shape then the image and lettering achieved by using vinyl text.

Profile Sign 34

Here is a good picture of a set of cut-out letters, commonly known as a profile sign. The colours are ConocoPhillips’ corporate colours, as is the design.

The individual cut out letters are attached permanently to the wall and will last for a long time out in the english weather.

The letters themselves are created using aluminium composite.
