The logo and name double as one, and here in the picture you can see that the sign has been created as a profile sign, the cut out letters arranged on the chimney in a prominent position.

Created from red aluminium composite, the individual cut out letters were fixed into place and will last many years.

A highly complex and easily visible sign (the letters are quite large) this profile sign is individually fixed to the metal cladding and the building.

Constructed from aluminium composite, these individual letters then have wide format printing applied on top. This then has a further anti-vandalism layer of vinyl added.

The design, as can be seen from the picture, has an undulating highlight that passes along several letters, created in the design phase and transferred to the individual letters via the wide format printing.

Part of the beauty of profile signs is that they create such a great impression, and the lighting situation always changes throughout the day so the sign tends to change a little.

The logo for the University of Salford has been created using the same process that creates cut out letters and profile signs – in fact you can see the letters from the rest of the profile sign in this picture.

Such a fine degree of workmanship can be achieved and it achieves a professional look when in place.

Profile signs, or cut out letters as they are also known (you can see clearly why in this image), are found all over the place and are a very good way of advertising a site from a distance.

In this case though, the profile sign has been used internally along with a more innovative use of this sign type – by combining the standard profile sign with vinyl and cut out arrows, this entire sign is now an effective wayfinding sign.

The entire view is dominating but informative, easy to read, and easy to understand.

Although this kind of acrylic sign is usually reserved for smaller pieces, prestige signs for the outside of an office, they can be scaled up for something like this.

These large polished acrylic signs are clearly for the University of Wolverhampton Business School. The lettering is achieved by using cut out letters, attached permanently to the polished acrylic.

Impressive and elegant, they are unusual and eyecatching.

This is a very professional and elegant sign for the University of Huddersfield Business School. The building itself is new, clad in stone and very beautifully designed and the vertical profile sign that is fixed to the wall complements it.

The profile sign is constructed using aluminium composite that is fixed firmly to the stone. These are long lasting and although they won’t last as long as the building, will fare well outside.

Here is a great way to use profile signs, as a backdrop of a foyer or welcome desk. When people enter the building they will see this immediately.

The profile elements of the sign are created by cutting the letters out of aluminium composite sheets. These are arranged in situ and fixed solidly to the wall by one of several methods, any of which will keep the letters in place for a long time.

Although this one is relatively small, profile signs can be quite large and run up the side of buildings.

Perhaps a bit of overkill, but here is a cherry picker with the fitting team in action, close to the ground (maybe -too- close to the ground?).

Needless to say the fitters followed the prescribed safety protocols, they are wearing the required safety gear and they are harnessed to the cherry picker.

The profile sign that they are erecting is for a corporate client, ConocoPhillips, and they will last many years.

Here is a good picture of a set of cut-out letters, commonly known as a profile sign. The colours are ConocoPhillips’ corporate colours, as is the design.

The individual cut out letters are attached permanently to the wall and will last for a long time out in the english weather.

The letters themselves are created using aluminium composite.
